Our Gentle Giants
Scout
Scout was the first horse to be adopted after moving to Doves Hollow, so he has a special place in our hearts. He is a mini-horse in size, but certainly not in personality. He needs to be reminded almost daily that he is not the boss. Despite his feisty little temper we still love him and as long as he is kept busy, he is happy . We recently bought a pony cart so we can teach him to drive – we know he will love that job!
Wynn
Wynn is the alpha horse of the gang. He is a big guy with a very gentle personality. He has a problem with his left front foot so sometimes he trips. We still think he is perfect!
Silver
Silver is our oldest horse at age 25. He is a very gentle soul. He is definitely Wynn’s sidekick. Silver used to be a race horse but now he lives a life of leisure as a pasture pet.
Ranger & Roxie
We listed these two together because they belong together. We acquired them when their owner passed away. The surviving spouse did not have the ability to care for the horses and they were emaciated and in poor health. They were going to be euthanized. We stepped in and offered them a forever home. It was fitting that they were delivered to us on Valentine’s Day because they are the sweetest little lovebirds – always together, grooming each other daily and just being close to one another. Their loyalty to each other is beautiful to witness.
Fancy
Fancy came from a loving owner who was only able to board a few horses that she used for fox hunting. When it was discovered that Fancy has a rare heart condition that could be fatal at any given moment, the owner needed to find her a new home. Of course we welcomed her to Doves Hollow and have loved her ever since!
