Our cuddly Cats
Pepper
Pepper has quite a story! He was found on May 30, 2024 near one of our barns. He was clearly newborn, as the umbilical cord was still attached. The end of his tail was chewed and his nose was bloody from being dragged. The mother was no where to be found. We took Pepper and nursed him to health, bottle feeding every two hours (even through the night) for several weeks. He is an indoor cat and a wonderful addition to our Doves Hollow family. Dexter
Dexter was found in a rural driveway when he was about eight weeks old. He was alone, thin and very hungry. We just happened to have a fish dinner in a takeout box and we happily shared it with him! We immediately adopted him and made him part of the family. He is an indoor only cat with the sweetest disposition ever! His favorite activity is being cuddled.
Deandra Dandelion (Dee Dee)
Dee Dee was adopted from the local animal shelter. She was beautiful and lonely and we knew she belonged with us. Dee is affectionately called “MaMa Dee” because she loves to mother little babies.
Jovie Cutie
We rescued Jovie from the Winnebago County Animal Shelter in December 2025. She was a birthday gift for our family member, Shaun, who wanted a kitten of his own. In honor of the Christmas season, she was named Jovie (see the movie Elf if you don’t understand), but she also goes by “Cutie.”
Katarino
Katarino was most likely dumped off in the country or lost. We know this because he was neutered and in good physical condition. There was no microchip. We initally thought he was a girl and named him Katarina. When the vet reported to us that he was a neutered boy, we changed his name to Katarino so as not to confuse him with a totally new name. While we tried to let him be an indoor cat, he made it perfectly clear that he prefers to live amongst the horses and goats in the stable. He is happy there – he has shelter and food when he wants it but is free to roam the property.
Evie
Evie is a sweetie that we originally named “Woody” because we thought she was a a male cat that lived in our woodpile. Surprisingly, one spring we found out that “Woody” was a female when she introduced us to her litter of kittens. We continued to watch over “Woody” and her babies all spring, summer and fall. Eventually, the kittens went on their separate ways, but “Woody” stayed. On Christmas Eve of 2024, we brought this sweet, lonely cat inside our home for the winter. We appropriately changed her name to Evie, in honor of the day that she became a permanent part of our family.
Jamie Fraser
Jamie, our favorite barn cat, keeps the stables clean and mouse free. He is a handsome, strong, loyal fellow so we thought it was only right to name him after our favorite hero, Jamie Fraser from Outlander!
